Oasis of the Seas: Toilets Shut Off for Hours in Nassau
Oasis of the Seas guests found a letter in their staterooms on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026: Royal Caribbean's crew would shut off the ship's vacuum system for "essential maintenance" on Wednesday, Sept. 30, and toilets would not work from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 3 p.m. while the ship was docked in Nassau, Bahamas. The letter said everything should be "fully restored and functioning properly by 3:00 PM." It didn't say whether the whole ship was affected, and guests on some decks reported on Facebook that they hadn't received the letter.
The timing came after the nor'easter disrupted Oasis of the Seas' Sept. 27 sailing from Cape Liberty: she lost her Port Canaveral call on Tuesday, then reached Nassau at 7:30 a.m. instead of 10:30 a.m. (5:30 p.m. departure unchanged), so both shutdown windows fell during the port call. It isn't the first time: on July 29, 2026, Oasis of the Seas guests got a nearly identical letter with the same hours, also in Nassau. Royal Caribbean hasn't said what the maintenance is.
